Abstract
INTRODUCTION
Child sexual abuse causes the effect more traumatic and long-term effects on children than other types of abuse. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the profile of Sexually Exploited Children.
METHODS
Research is descriptive and retrospective nature. The population of the study consisted of girls who were child girl service aged 9-17 years hospitalized in child girl service of Manisa Mental Health and Disease Hospital. It targeted that to reach the entire population and not sample selection. The study sample consisted of 85 child. Hospital records and judicial reports of cases were examined by researchers retrospectively. Number, percentage test used in statistical analysis.
RESULTS
42.5% of sexually abused children aged between 13-15. The most frequently reported sexual abuse type was vaginal penetration in girls, sexual touching in girls (69.4%). Regarding the abusers; all of them were male, 54.1% were familiar and 14.1% were among relative. 25.9%
of cases were abused by more than one abuser. 91.8% experienced emotional abuse in addition to sexual abuse. 83.5% of cases were diagnosed with at least one mental disorder following the abuse. 37.6% of the cases were diagnosed with severe stress disorder, 27.1% depression, 22.4% behavioral disorders, 12.9% Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION
It was observed that the mental disorder developed following the abuse in a great majority of victims. Sociodemographic features of our cases, as well as their features related to the abuse and the abusers are in line with the data of previous studies.
