Abstract

The omphalomesenteric duct is an embryonic structure which communicates the vitelline duct with the midgut and it may rarely be associated with umbilicus through the connective tissue. In this article, we present two term neonates with diagnosis of omphalomesenteric duct anomalies and Meckel's diverticulum. One of these neonates was hospitalised due to the indirect hyperbilirubinemia and then omfalitis was observed in this case. Umbilical hemorrhage was observed in the second neonate in the routine neonatal examination. Omphalomesenteric duct anomalies should be suspected in the case of omphalitis and umbilical cord bleeding in the neonatal period.
