Abstract
In recent years, cure rates of Helicobacter pylori eradication therapies have been decreased. Resistance to the antibiotics is the most important cause of this decline. Point mutations and drug excreteing proteins play important role in drug resistance mechanisms. The resistance to the antibiotics used in pediatric Helicobacter pylori eradication (clarithromycin, metronidazole and amoxcicilin) can be determined by culture based or molecular methods. Molecular methods have many advantages over culture. Determination of the antibiotic resistance is important in planning the treatment and in obtaining higher eradication rates.
