Evaluation of children with Henoch-Schönlein Purpura İpek Kaplan Bulut1, Özlem Temel1, Özlem Arslan1, Mustafa Orhan Bulut2, Selma Çakmakcı1, Meral İnalhan1, Feyza Yıldız1 1Department Of Pediatrics, Zeynep Kamil Maternity And Children 2Department Of Pediatrics, Van Maternity And Children OBJECTIVE: Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) is the most common systemic vasculitis in children. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and demographic features and laboratory finding of disease in our patients with Henoch-Schönlein purpura. METHODS: Sixty-two patients with Henoch-Schönlein purpura who were diagnosed and observed in our department of pediatrics between January 2005 and December 2010 were retrospectively evaluated. RESULTS: Thirty eight (55%) of the patients were male and 24 (45%) were female. Mean age of the patients was 6.9 years (2-14 years). The distribution of cases according to the seasons: autumn 27.5% (n = 17), winter 29% (n = 18), spring 25.8% (n = 16), summer 17.7% (n = 11). All patients had purpuric skin lesions 100% (n=62), 67.7% (n=42) had joint, 37.1% (n=23) had gastrointestinal system, 12.9% (n=8) had renal and 4.8% (n=3) had scrotal involvement. Hematuria was detected in 8% (n=8), proteinuria in 3.2% (n=2), hematuria with proteinuria in 1.6% (n=1). Renal biopsy was not needed as there was no persistent hematuria and proteinuria. Nine (%14.5) patients had anemia, 11 (%17.7) patients had leukocytosis, 23 (%37.1) patients had thrombocytosis, 34 (%54.8) patients had increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate and 39 (%62.9) patients had positive CRP. CONCLUSION: Henoch-Schönlein purpura in a wide range of age and be detected in all seasons. The disease is usually self-limiting and the prognosis is good. Bu çalışmada HSP tanısı alan olgularımızın demografik, klinik ve labaratuar özelliklerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlandı. YÖNTEMLER: Çalışma için Ocak 2005-Aralık 2010 tarihleri arasında hastanemizin Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları kliniğinde HSP tanısı almış 62 hasta retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi. BULGULAR: Hastaların 38 (%55)’i erkek, 24 (%45)’ü kız olup, yaş ortalaması 6.9 (2- 14) yıl idi. Olguların mevsimlere göre dağılımı: Sonbahar %27.5 (n=17), kış %29 (n=18), ilkbahar %25.8 (n=16), yaz %17.7 (n=11) idi. Döküntü %100 (n=62), eklem tutulumu %67.7 (n=42), gastrointestinal sistem tutulumu %37.1 (n=23), renal tutulum %12.9 (n=8), skrotal tutulum %4.8 (n=3) olguda saptandı. Hematüri %8 (n=5), proteinüri %3.2 (n=2), hematüri ve proteinüri %1.6 (n=1) olguda saptandı. Hematüri ve proteinüri devam etmediği için hiçbir hastada böbrek biyopsisine gerek duyulmadı. Dokuz (%14.5) hastada anemi, 11 (%17.7) hastada lökositoz, 23 (%37.1) hastada trombositoz, 34 (%54.8) hastada sedimantasyon yüksekliği, 39 (%62.9) hastada C-Reaktif Protein yüksekliği saptandı. SONUÇ: Henoch-Schönlein purpurası geniş bir yaş aralığında ve her mevsimde saptanabilmektedir. Kendi kendini sınırlayan bir hastalık olup prognozu genellikle iyidir.
